Do I have to be flexible to practice Yoga?
My moto is: You don’t have to be flexible to practice yoga! Yoga will improve your flexibility and help you go beyond your normal range of movement, which may make performing your daily activities easier.
Am I too old for Yoga or Pilates?
Definitely not. I have people up to the age of 70 in my class.
What is the difference between Pilates and Yoga?
Yoga classes offers balance, flexibility endurance, strength, spirituality, and physical movement. Classes are gentle and nourishing. If you like to move and you’re a go-with-the-flow kind of person, yoga might just be your ticket.
Pilates classes focus on core strength, muscle toning, body control, and some flexibility. If you like a more structured workout without the cardio component, chanting or OMing this could be the workout for you.
What type of mat should I use?
For Yoga a sticky mat (4mm+) is best and Pilates a thicker pilates mat (10mm or 15mm thick). However, if you have any knee or back issues you may prefer the thicker Pilates mat as it is more comfortable.
